我们的朋友……睡了（约11：11）。 论到睡了的人，我们不愿意弟兄们不知道，恐怕你们忧伤，像那些没有指望的人一样。我们若信耶稣死而复活了，那已经在耶稣里睡了的人， 神也必将他与耶稣一同带来（帖前4：13，l4）。因为死人若不复活，基督也就没有复活了。基督若没有复活，你们的信便是徒然，你们仍在罪里，就是在基督里睡了的人也灭亡了。但基督已经从死里复活，成为睡了之人初熟的果子（林前15：16…18；20）。 国民尽都过了约但河，耶和华就对约书亚说：……你们从这里，从约但河中，祭司脚站定的地方，取十二块石头带过去。这些石头要作以色列人永远的记念（书4：1，3，7）。这耶稣， 神已经叫他复活了，我们都为这事作见证。 神预先所拣选为他作见证的人，就是他从死里复活以后和他同吃同喝的人（徒2：32；10：41）。 Our friend sleepeth。 I would not have you to be ignorant； brethren； concerning them which are asleep； that ye sorrow not； even as others which have no hope。 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again； even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him。 If the dead rise not； then is not Christ raised： and if Christ be not raised； your faith is vain； ye are yet in your sins。 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished。 But now is Christ risen from the dead； and bee the firstfruits of them that slept。

因为资财不能永存，冠冕岂能存到万代（箴27：24）？ 世人行动实系幻影。他们忙乱，真是枉然；积蓄财宝，不知将来有谁收取（诗39：6）。你们要思念上面的事，不要思念地上的事（西3：2）。不要为自己积攒财宝在地上，地上有虫子咬，能锈坏，也有贼挖窟窿来偷；只要积攒财宝在天上，天上没有虫子咬，不能锈坏，也没有贼挖窟窿来偷。因为你的财宝在哪里，你的心也在哪里（太6：19…21）。 他们不过是要得能坏的冠冕；我们却是要得不能坏的冠冕（林前9：25）。我们不是顾念所见的，乃是顾念所不见的（林后4：18）。撒义种的，得实在的果效（箴11：18）。从此以后，有公义的冠冕为我存留，就是按着公义审判的主到了那日要赐给我的，不但赐给我，也赐给凡爱慕他显现的人（提后4：8）。你们必得那永不衰残的荣耀冠冕（彼前5：4）。 Riches are not forever； and doth the crown endure to every generation？ Surely every man walketh in a vain shew： surely they are disquieted in vain： he heapeth up riches； and knoweth not who shall gather them。 — Set your affection on things above； not on things on the earth。 — Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth； where moth and rust doth corrupt； and where thieves break through and steal： but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven。 For where your treasure is； there will your heart be also。 They do it to obtain a corruptible crown； but we an incorruptble。 — We look not at the things which are seen but at the things which are not seen。 — To him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward。 — There is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord； the righteous judge； shall give me at that day； and not to me only but unto all them also that love his appearing。 — A crown of glory that fadeth not away。 PROV。 27：24。 Psa。 39：6。 …Col。 3：2。 …Matt。 6：19…21。 I Cor。 9：25。 …II Cor 4：18。 …Prov。 11：18。 …II Tim。 4：8。 …I Pet。 5：4。
