2：16又对卖鸽子的说，把这些东西拿去。不要将我父的殿，当作买卖的地方。
And said unto them that sold doves； Take these things hence； make not my Father's house an house of merchandise。
2：17他的门徒就想起经上记着说，我为你的殿，心里焦急，如同火烧。
And his disciples remembered that it was written； The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up。
2：18因此，犹太人问他说，你既作这些事，还显什么神迹给我们看呢。
Then answered the Jews and said unto him； What sign shewest thou unto us； seeing that thou doest these things？
2：19耶稣回答说，你们拆毁这殿，我三日内要再建立起来。
Jesus answered and said unto them； Destroy this temple； and in three days I will raise it up。
2：20犹太人便说，这殿是四十六年才造成的，你三日内就再建立起来吗。
Then said the Jews； Forty and six years was this temple in building； and wilt thou rear it up in three days？
2：21但耶稣这话，是以他的身体为殿。
But he spake of the temple of his body。
2：22所以到他从死里复活以后，门徒就想起他说过这话，便信了圣经和耶稣所说的。
When therefore he was risen from the dead； his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them； and they believed the scripture； and the word which Jesus had said。
2：23当耶稣在耶路撒冷过逾越节的时候，有许多人看见他所行的神迹，就信了他的名。
Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover； in the feast day； many believed in his name； when they saw the miracles which he did。
2：24耶稣却不将自己交托他们，因为他知道万人。
But Jesus did not mit himself unto them； because he knew all men；
2：25也用不着谁见证人怎样。因他知道人心里所存的。
And needed not that any should testify of man： for he knew what was in man。

3：1有一个法利赛人，名叫尼哥底母，是犹太人的官。
There was a man of the Pharisees； named Nicodemus； a ruler of the Jews：
3：2这人夜里来见耶稣，说，拉比，我们知道你是由神那里来作师傅的。因为你所行的神迹，若没有神同在，无人能行。
The same came to Jesus by night； and said unto him； Rabbi； we know that thou art a teacher e from God： for no man can do these miracles that thou doest； except God be with him。
3：3耶稣回答说，我实实在在的告诉你，人若不重生，就不能见神的国。
Jesus answered and said unto him； Verily； verily； I say unto thee； Except a man be born again； he cannot see the kingdom of God。
3：4尼哥底母说，人已经老了，如何能重生呢。岂能再进母腹生出来吗。
Nicodemus saith unto him； How can a man be born when he is old？ can he enter the second time into his mother's womb； and be born？
3：5耶稣说，我实实在在的告诉你，人若不是从水和圣灵生的，就不能进神的国。
Jesus answered； Verily； verily； I say unto thee； Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit； he cannot enter into the kingdom of God。
3：6从肉身生的，就是肉身。从灵生的，就是灵。
That which is born of the flesh is flesh； and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit。
3：7我说，你们必须重生，你不要以为希奇。
Marvel not that I said unto thee； Ye must be born again。
3：8风随着意思吹，你听见风的响声，却不晓得从那里来，往那里去。凡从圣灵生的，也是如此。
The wind bloweth where it listeth； and thou hearest the sound thereof； but canst not tell whence it eth； and whither it goeth： so is every one that is born of the Spirit。
3：9尼哥底母问他说，怎能有这事呢。
Nicodemus answered and said unto him； How can these things be？
3：10耶稣回答说，你是以色列人的先生，还不明白这事吗。
Jesus answered and said unto him； Art thou a master of Israel； and knowest not these things？
3：11我实实在在的告诉你，我们所说的，是我们知道的，我们所见证的，是我们见过的。你们却不领受我们的见证。
Verily； verily； I say unto thee； We speak that we do know； and testify that we have seen； and ye receive not our witness。
3：12我对你们说地上的事，你门尚且不信，若说天上的事，如何能信呢。
If I have told you earthly things； and ye believe not； how shall ye believe； if I tell you of heavenly things？
3：13除了从天降下仍旧在天的人子，没有人升过天。
And no man hath ascended up to heaven； but he that came down from heaven； even the Son of man which is in heaven。
3：14摩西在旷野怎样举蛇，人子也必照样被举起来。
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness； even so must the Son of man be lifted up：
3：15叫一切信他的都得永生。（或作叫一切信的人在他里面得永生）
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish； but have eternal life。
3：16神爱世人，甚至将他的独生子赐给他们，叫一切信他的，不至灭亡，反得永生。
For God so loved the world； that he gave his only begotten Son； that whosoever believeth in him should not perish； but have everlasting life。
3：17因为神差他的儿子降世，不是要定世人的罪，（或作审判世人下同）乃是要叫世人因他得救。
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world； but that the world through him might be saved。
3：18信他的人，不被定罪。不信的人，罪已经定了，因为他不信神独生子的名。
He that believeth on him is not condemned： but he that believeth not is condemned already； because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God。
3：19光来到世间，世人因自己的行为是恶的，不爱光倒爱黑暗，定他们的罪就是在此。
And this is the condemnation； that light is e into the world； and men loved darkness rather than light； because their deeds were evil。
3：20凡作恶的便恨光，并不来就光，恐怕他的行为受责备。
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light； neither eth to the light； lest his deeds should be reproved。
3：21但行真理的必来就光，要显明他所行的是靠神而行。
But he that doeth truth eth to the light； that his deeds may be made manifest； that they are wrought in God。
3：22这事以后，耶稣和门徒到了犹太地，在那里居住施洗。
After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea； and there he tarried with them； and baptized。
3：23约翰在靠近撒冷的哀嫩也施洗，因为那里水多。众人都去受洗。
And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim； because there was much water there： and they came； and were baptized。
3：24那时约翰还没有下在监里。
For John was not yet cast into prison。
3：25约翰的门徒，和一个犹太人辩论洁净的礼。
Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying。
3：26就来见约翰说，拉比，从前同你在约旦河外，你所见证的那位，现在施洗，众人都往他那里去。
